Graphics from the Healthy Penis 2002 campaign in San Francisco

There are spikes in rate of syphilis infections being reported in many cities throughout the U.S. When I was in San Francisco in July 2002 I couldn't help but notice their health campaign, which will never, ever be duplicated in Boston.

This is my photo of one ad on a bus stop kiosk.

I got this graphic from their website. Bit easier to read than my photo.

Print ad
Here's the print version of the ad. The only difference I see is that the print ad includes a cartoon penis as well. I guess bus riders welcome the depiction of germs, but not penises.

They even had costumes and actors in an outreach program!
